The SKF Electrical Discharge Detector Pen (EDD Pen) is a simple to use hand-held instrument for detecting electrical discharges in electric motor bearings. With this tool DCT is able to help customers properly identify the presence of discharge voltages as opposed to identify only once a failure has taken place. Electrical discharges are a result of motor shaft voltages discharging to earth through the bearing, causing electrical erosion, lubricant degradation and ultimately bearing failure. DCT now has one of these tools on every service truck.
